Andy Altahawi is an international attorney whose working life has crossed three worlds — the law, the American securities industry, and the world’s exchanges — across a career of more than three decades. The foundation that carries his name is the fourth chapter: turning that career toward the students who will follow it.
The career in brief
Mr. Altahawi took his law degree in 1986 and was admitted to the bar in 1988; he later earned a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Szeged. Since 1994 he has operated as an international attorney and investment banker: he entered the U.S. securities industry in 1994 in investment banking at Prudential Securities (1994–1998), and held FINRA registrations through the years he worked in the industry. From 1998 to 2007 he built and led his own investment bank, Adamson Brothers, an SEC- and FINRA-registered broker-dealer. Today his practice is listing advisory — advising companies listing on NASDAQ and NYSE, with any matter touching U.S. law handled in co-counsel with U.S.-admitted attorneys.
Throughout its operation as a FINRA-registered broker-dealer, Adamson Brothers was never the subject of a customer complaint or a regulatory citation from FINRA or the NASD — a clean record across a decade of multi-office trading, market making, and corporate finance. Mr. Altahawi’s own registered career from 1994 was likewise free of customer complaints.
