The Andy Altahawi Foundation is being organized for a single purpose: to sponsor student scholarships. Not to run programs in a dozen directions, not to lend its name to causes it cannot see through — to find students of law, finance, and the capital markets who have the talent and not the means, and to pay for their education.
The foundation grows out of one observation from its founder’s own life: every consequential door of a three-decade career — the law, Wall Street, an investment bank of his own, the exchanges — was opened first by education. The foundation exists to hold that door open for people who have not yet reached it.
What the foundation will do
- Sponsor scholarships. Direct financial awards to students — tuition support first, with books, fees, and examination costs considered case by case.
- Name its awards for the chapters that earned them. The planned award families — in law, in finance, and for cross-border scholars — each carry the name of a chapter of the founder’s career. They are described on the Scholarship Programs page.
- Publish its standards. Eligibility rules, selection criteria, and award terms will be published on this site before the first application opens, and results will be reported plainly.
What the foundation will not do
- It will not accept donations or contributions until it is formally organized and any required registrations are complete — and it accepts none today.
- It will not sell anything, charge students anything, or condition any award on any business relationship.
- It will not blur the line between the foundation and the founder’s professional practice. The foundation is a philanthropic project; the practice is described on its own pages, in its own terms.
Where the foundation stands today
The foundation is in formation. It has been announced before it has been formed — deliberately, so that its mission, its planned programs, and its founder’s complete history are on the public record from the first day. Until formation is complete and announced on this site, the foundation is a stated intention, not a legal entity; the full disclosure appears in the Terms & Disclosures.
